Warp Speed Editing

Your Novel is Good
But is it Good Enough?

Good enough to land a book deal? Good enough to catch the eye of a literary agent? Good enough to build a loyal following of readers who can’t wait for your next release?
The truth is, in today’s competitive publishing world, “good” isn’t always enough. Your story deserves to stand out—and I can help you make that happen.
You like most aspects of your book but still feel that the middle is soft. The ending does not land, or your opening doesn’t have the impact you want.
You are close.  But not fully there.
Rejections sting. Feedback can be conflicting or unhelpful.
How do you close the gap between a good draft and one that is submission ready?

Crafting Success, Step by Step

Close the Gap

I help with expert feedback, full critique, and analysis, detailed notes, and an organized action plan that is easy to follow.

You receive a completed novel that is structurally sound, engaging, highlights your distinctive voice, has consistent world-building, and a killer tech or magic system.

You can feel confident moving to the stage of submitting query letters or self-publication.

Common Problem Areas I fix:

  • A plot drags in the middle or a climax that does not pay off
  • World-building that feels inconsistent or under-explained
  • Characters that blur together or arcs that stall
  • Uneven pacing across chapters or
  • Too many POVs
  • Prose that needs tightening without losing style
  • Uncertainty about genre fit

This Process Works So Well Because It:

  • Identifies where readers hesitate and why
  • Concentrates on high-impact fixes that strengthen structure, pacing, character arcs, and world-building clarity
  • Makes sure all essential moments in the novel are maximized, especially your opening, key reveals, and the build-up to the climax.  Your work will hook your reader fast and keep them engaged for the entire novel
  • Provides a step-by-step revision plan that addresses structure, POV strategy, character arcs, pacing, theme, and clear rules for magic or tech
  • Gives you tons of manuscript notes that flag scene-level opportunities and clarity issues
  • Ensures your World-building holds up.  You can be certain that the rules for tech or magic are easily understood and applied with consistency

Recent Projects

I was concerned when I sent my manuscript in for review. English is not my first language. I was expecting a harsh critique. It was the exact opposite.

Eric is friendly, warm, and highly professional. He is very clever in how he handled my material. He managed to polish and refine my work yet kept my original voice. The writing flowed like written by a native speaker, yet the unique colloquial flavor of the prose was intact.

He also added some structural changes that made the story more realistic and visceral.

Working with an editor was a great deal of fun. The lively exchange of ideas and the respect he showed me as an artist was validating and gave me the courage to submit my work to a publisher. I will always use Warp Speed Editing and I expect to have a long and productive career.

I honestly was not sure I could do it.  What business did I have thinking I could be a professional writer?  I remember timidly handing over my work to Eric hoping he would not laugh at me or try to discourage me from my dreams.

His first comment is something I will never forget. “Wow, you have real potential.”

The edits he suggested were spot on. His insights into writing are amazing.  His ability to make my ideas come to life is impressive.

After working with Eric, I know I am a real writer. He helped me believe in myself and my gifts.

Eric and I worked on several books over the years.  I have been published many times and two of my books are being made into movies.

I believed in my story, but I didn’t really believe in myself.

I had no formal education as a writer.

I thought I was merely an amateur and wondered if I had any business trying to sell my work as a professional.

It was obvious that Eric shared the same vision. He saw the potential.

He believed in me even when I was a bit unsure.

Together we were able to put that vision on the page. I am a successful writer.

Eric didn’t just see the potential of the story, he saw the potential in me, and I am truly grateful.

Eric Myers is my editor for Russian Nonsensical. Eric went the extra mile for me, correcting my deficient punctuation, providing an amazing variety of ideas for plot and character development, and offering assistance above and beyond the manuscript itself. Eric is unstoppable. I appreciate his help and encouragement.

Kristin Bryant has again provided an intriguing, artful cover. Thanks, Kristin.

As always, my wife, Marguerite, supported and advised me throughout. She’s wonderful at knowing what to discard and convincing me I’ve gone a little too far now and again. Her ideas serve as springboards for character insights or plot twists. Her love sustains me.

About Eric

I work with science fiction and fantasy authors who have a strong draft and want a clear path to publication.

The process is simple. Protect your voice. Strengthen what carries the story. Give you a plan you can follow without guesswork.

I have been editing Science Fiction and Fantasy since 2013. Before that, I ran editorial teams and large communications projects, which trained me to spot structure fast, keep timelines honest, and deliver clear notes under pressure.

I have guided authors through revising and resubmit requests, full developmental edits, and multi‑book arcs. The goal is steady progress and pages that earn reader trust.

Writers choose me because I edit, and I coach. I ask sharp questions that unlock better choices. I translate broad feedback into specific changes on the page. I help you set priorities and stick to them. You will know what to fix, why it matters, and how to do it while keeping your style intact.

What I provide for you:

  • Candid diagnostics that show where your readers hesitate and what to change
  • A step-by-step revision plan
  • Detailed margin notes on all scenes, especially key transitions and your opening pages
  • Market analysis so your submission lands where it should
  • Follow up support so you are never revising in the dark

What shaped my approach

  • Editing and publishing training at Florida State University
  • Two graduate degrees focused on leadership and management, which means clear process and consistent delivery
  • Years of leading teams, coaching volunteers, and mentoring people through high-stakes work, so feedback stays kind and direct
  • Communications work with well-known media and publishing brands, which sharpened my eye for clarity and message

A few quick facts

  • Founder of Warp Speed Editing since 2013
  • Former managing editor for a print magazine with 20,000 circulation
  • Former communications director managing global projects and a $6,000,000 annual budget
  • Based in the US, working with authors everywhere, with flexible evening and weekend availability when needed

Editing philosophy

  • Respect the author’s voice
  • Fix what matters most first
  • Make every suggestion tie back to reader impact
  • Keep the process transparent, steady, and fun
